Ongoing Sexual Harassment Complaints at Anna University

Image
Ongoing Sexual Harassment Complaints at Anna University Anna University  was once synonymous with  excellence in engineering and technical education . For many students across the country, it was a "dream fortress"—the ultimate destination for pursuing higher studies. There was a time when engineering admissions across Tamil Nadu were conducted strictly as per the Anna University schedule, reflecting its prestige not just in the state, but throughout India. Students from all corners of the country flock here to study. However, this institution, which has mentored many for  higher education , has in recent years gained notoriety for a rise in sexual offences. The Case of Gnanasekaran Last year, a female student at the university was subjected to such severe sexual harassment that she had to be hospitalised with injuries across her body. Following widespread protests sparked by her complaint, a man named Gnanasekaran was arrested. After a year-long legal process, he was con...

How did Thamizhisai Soundararajan affect the winning chances of bjp by contesting in the Mylapore assembly? Earlier, she was defeated in the Chennai South Parliament seat.

Mylapore has long been a stronghold for the Brahmin community , with candidates from the community winning every election between 2006 and 2021 ( S.Ve . Shekher, Rajalakshmi , and R. Nataraj ). However , the 2021 election marked a turning point; Sripriya , contesting for MNM , split the traditional Brahmin vote bank usually aligned with the ADMK , allowing the DMK to secure a victory. The upcoming election introduces new variables. Unexpectedly, Vijay’s TVK and Seeman’s NTK have both fielded Brahmin candidates. If the BJP fields Tamilisai Soundararajan under the ADMK alliance, she faces a steep uphill battle. With the Brahmin vote further fragmented by TVK and NTK, her path to victory is narrow. Furthermore, if the DMK strategically fields Dr. V. Maitreyan —who was recently seen interviewing at Anna Arivalayam —Tamilisai could risk losing her deposit. Consequently, it may be more strategic for the BJP to field her in the southern belt, such as Nagercoil , where her winning prosp...

Is Sasikala and Ramadoss alliance a symbolic representation of alliance between Sivaji Ganesan and Janaki Ammal in the 1989 election?

The Ramadoss and Sasikala Alliance The news of an electoral alliance between Ramadoss and Sasikala has been circulating frequently in recent days. This situation reminds me of a specific event: the 1989 Assembly Elections , where MGR ’s wife, Janaki Ammal , formed an alliance with Sivaji Ganesan ’s Thamizhaga Munnetra Munnani party . In this context, we should compare Sasikala to Sivaji Ganesan and Ramadoss to Janaki Ammal. Janaki Ammal, prompted by R.M. Veerappan, entered the political arena to oppose Jayalalithaa . Similarly, following MGR’s death, Sivaji Ganesan entered politics believing his cinematic charisma would lead to victory. In a similar vein, Ramadoss—much like Janaki Ammal—is entering the political fray in his old age, but against his own son. Meanwhile, Sasikala’s politics mirrors Sivaji Ganesan’s mindset; just as he relied on his film background, she believes her influence over the Mukkulathor community will carry her to success. Sasikala aims to defeat Edappad...

The Recent Vilathikulam Incident Since the beginning of March 2026, numerous criminal incidents have occurred across Tamil Nadu . In these incidents, four to five minor girls were gang-raped, resulting in hospitalization or death. Over the last few days, the Vilathikulam incident has been highlighted by only a few media outlets; most major media houses have not covered it, allegedly due to influence from DMK party members . The victim was a minor student currently appearing for her +2 examinations. On Tuesday (March 10, 2026), after returning home from an exam, she went to a nearby open space covered by bushes to attend to a "nature call." When she failed to return, her parents attempted to file a complaint at the local Kolathur Police Station in the Vilathikulam taluk. However, they were directed to the Vilathikulam Police Station instead. At both stations, police sub-inspectors, including female officers, reportedly ignored the incident. They refused to file a missing pe...
