How did Thamizhisai Soundararajan affect the winning chances of bjp by contesting in the Mylapore assembly? Earlier, she was defeated in the Chennai South Parliament seat.
Mylapore has long been a stronghold for the Brahmin community, with candidates from the community winning every election between 2006 and 2021 (S.Ve. Shekher, Rajalakshmi, and R. Nataraj).
However, the 2021 election marked a turning point; Sripriya, contesting for MNM, split the traditional Brahmin vote bank usually aligned with the ADMK, allowing the DMK to secure a victory.
The upcoming election introduces new variables. Unexpectedly, Vijay’s TVK and Seeman’s NTK have both fielded Brahmin candidates.
If the BJP fields Tamilisai Soundararajan under the ADMK alliance, she faces a steep uphill battle. With the Brahmin vote further fragmented by TVK and NTK, her path to victory is narrow.
Furthermore, if the DMK strategically fields Dr. V. Maitreyan—who was recently seen interviewing at Anna Arivalayam—Tamilisai could risk losing her deposit.
Consequently, it may be more strategic for the BJP to field her in the southern belt, such as Nagercoil, where her winning prospects are significantly higher.
