Edappadi - Should understand Unity is Strength.

Bharathiyar's golden saying, "Unity brings life, disunity brings everyone down," (ஒன்று பட்டால் உண்டு வாழ்வு நம்மில் ஒற்றுமை நீங்கில் அனைவருக்கும் தாழ்வு)applies to the Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi Palaniswami, more than anyone else.

He is hesitant to include Panneerselvam, TTV Dhinakaran, and Sasikala in the alliance. Furthermore, the BJP-AIADMK alliance was formed with a secret agreement that the BJP would not project Annamalai.

Sasikala, Dhinakaran, and OPS (O. Panneerselvam) are considered the vote bank for the Mukkulathor community, a caste with significant votes in Southern Tamil Nadu.

If Edappadi were the ruling party, he could boldly take such stands. However, as an opposition party aiming to regain power, he must include everyone necessary to form a government.

Edappadi, who claims to lead the party in J. Jayalalithaa's footsteps, seems to have forgotten her two distinct approaches. Jayalalithaa would take one stance when in opposition and another when in power.

After her defeat in 1996, she allied with several smaller parties and won the 1998 Parliamentary elections. She also joined forces with Moopanar's Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), who had started a new party against her, and won the 2001 elections.

Following the 2006 defeat, she made significant concessions to ally with Vijayakanth's DMDK for the 2011 assembly elections, bringing them into the alliance and securing a massive victory.

Only after strengthening the party considerably post-2011 did she contest and win the 2014 and 2016 Parliamentary and Assembly elections, respectively, on her own.

Even Jayalalithaa, who came to power many times with immense public support, significantly lowered her stance after her previous assembly defeats and allied with those holding opposing views to achieve victory.

Therefore, to win the 2026 assembly elections, Edappadi Palaniswami must slightly compromise his position and allow BJP's Annamalai to campaign alongside him.

Furthermore, to become Chief Minister in the 2026 BJP alliance, he must unite with OPS, Dhinakaran, and Sasikala, who are considered the Mukkulathor vote banks in Southern Tamil Nadu. Only by doing the above can he win, which is Tamil Nadu's past history.
