Closing of Tasmaac

There is a possibility in a slow steady manner, which would take sometime.

There was a news that when Rajaji was chief minister, he implemented மது விலக்கு (exclusion of alcohol) in the full swing.

Before independence, Rajaji implemented the ban to liquor in Salem presidency (districts coming under Salem).

Then he became Chief minister for Madras rajathani, liquor ban was implemented in a full swing.

Liquor ban was there still DMK comes to power.

Even at that time, to drink the liquor, they should have the licence. Only rich people, big industrialists had that licence. They would place the order and after sometime, they would get it through parcel.

Only those who are rich alone can consume the alcohol, it was in practice, still 1972.

When karunanidhi was chief minister in 1972, very first time liquor ban was with drawn, to which Rajaji tried hard to implement in whole state.

Because of Rajaji's swanthara party, DMK was come to power in 1967. Then karunanidhi become chief minister , in 1972, when karunanidhi planned to lift the ban on liquor, Rajaji , one fine evening, there was a heavy thunder storm at that time, he met the karunanidhi and begged to with draw the decision on lifting the liquor ban. But karunanidhi citing the economic crisis in the state and refused to take back the decision.

In those Days, liquor drinking was considered to be sin and also people will maintains distance with the family those who undergone such drinking habits. After 1972, all the people across all most all communities got addicted to the habit .

School taught us the good habits, but after completion of college, while taking the job, then we face the real world , people with whom we mingling, maximum addicted to this habit.

Social drinking is considered to be the fashion for last 20 years. Irrespective of the communities all had the unity in drinking alcohol.

In many industries to climbing to the top most position, alcoholic habit is also considered to be the key factor in determining the success. People shy away from this habit, not climbing to the top post is another worrying factor.

In the present situation, it is very difficult to implement the liquor ban. DMK who lifted the ban in 1972, against which in 2016, in their election manifesto contains the complete liquor ban as key point and which was the one of the highlighted point in the elections. But AIADMK said that in their manifesto that liquor ban will be implemented step by step.

In 2016, election results came in favour of AIADMK, because of their practical decision.

Following needs to be implemented, to bring the complete liquor ban.

  1. Close the tasmaac shops step by step
  2. Reduce the tasmaac timing to 4 hours
  3. Companies which are offering the alcoholic parties needs to be fined with heavy penalities or taxes.
  4. Every drinker should apply for the licence to drink alcohol.
  5. Government should make it mandatory, if he or she applied for licence, to consume alcohol, Verification at home address also needs to be done , if such license is issued.
  6. Many people may gave up this habit, in the grounds of cultural fear.
  7. Alcohol consumer needs to pay higher premiums for their insurance policies, at present it is available only for Term insurance, which needs to be implemented to all types of insurance policies.
  8. Alcohol consumer should not be allowed to board train or busses, if he or she in drunken state.
  9. Liquor shouldn't be given to the consumer, unless he had the license.
  10. Higher punishment needs to be given to the culprits, if he/she commits the crime in drunken state.
