The Wonder of the Temple

This temple is situated inside a natural cave approximately 300 meters long. The cave is perennially filled with water at a depth of 4 to 5 feet. Devotees must walk slowly through chest-deep water to reach the inner sanctum (Garbhagriha). Interestingly, while bats reside on the cave's ceiling, they are known not to disturb the devotees.

📜 Mythological Background

After slaying Hiranyakashipu, Lord Narasimha defeated a demon named Jalasura. Being a great devotee of Lord Shiva, Jalasura requested a boon: even after his death, he wished to turn into water and eternally touch the feet of Lord Shiva. Granting his wish, the demon transformed into the flowing water, and Lord Narasimha took up residence in the same cave. Even today, devotees can worship both Lord Narasimha and a Shiva Lingam at the end of the cave.
